Update on Lauren from the 12U Creek's team

In Sunday's 12U IF game, Creek's 2nd baseman, Lauren, was in position to field a very hard hit ground ball that took a bad hop and struck her in the chest.  She secured the ball and started to throw to first base but was unable to continue.  Our Tournament trainer came to her aid and monitored her progress for several minutes.  Lauren was having trouble breathing so 911 was called for assistance.  Paramedics took her to the hospital to do some tests.  It has been reported that Lauren is doing much better today (Monday 6/28) and is looking forward to next week at the State Tournament.

Gate Passes

We will be using gate pass wristbands for each day of the tournament. They will be $7/day for adults and $5/day for kids born 1995-2002. Younger kids will get in free. All 19 teams will play on Friday and Saturday. As many as 12 teams will play on Sunday.

Each team pre-purchased 30 gate passes for all three days for $300. Managers paid for these gate pass packs at the Managers Meeting.  Additional passes can be purchased at the gate for the fees listed above. 

Uniformed All-Star coaches and players always get into the park for free.

Coolers

You can put team coolers in the dugout for the girls. The PVGS concession stand will be fully loaded with food and drink. Please support the cause.

Tournament T-Shirts - $15 each

PVGS is printing a tournament t-shirt with a tournament logo for the front and the brackets on the back.  They will be a great way for the girls to record and track the progress of their teams. 

Rules Matrix

The rules matrix is a document that has evolved over several years of use.  It is meant to highlight rules that change between age-divisions or between rec-ball and all-stars.  Tim Knowles (District Commissioner), Marc Bugbey (Tournament Director) and Bill Selman (Florida State UIC) have all reviewed this document.  Each item listed refers back to the authoritative reference in either the 2010 Babe Ruth Softball Rules Book, or the 2010 Southeast Regional 8U Rules.  Click here to download the Rules Matrix .pdf file.

Advancing to the Florida State Championships

• All 8U teams automatically qualify to go to States, since that is the first official 8U tournament.

• In the 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U divisions, teams finishing in 1st or 2nd place in the District Tournament qualify to advance to States.

• In the 10U and 12U divisions, if the PVGS All-Star team finishes in 1st or 2nd, the 3rd place team in the respective division also qualifies.  That is because PVGS is the host of the State Championships, and the host's All-Star teams automatically qualify.  PVGS does not have a 14U or 16U all-star team this year.

• 16 of our 19 District #1 All-Star teams are eligible to advance to the State Championships.
