Coaching Certification

Each year, PVGS managers, coaches and dugout parents must be certified in order to be on the field during practices and games.  The certification process is administered by the Ponte Vedra Athletic Association (PVAA), St. Johns County Recreation and Parks, and Babe Ruth League (BRL).
 
Once you've completed the necessary certifications, deliver all documents to Amy PattisonShe will review your paper work then deliver it to the County.
 
St. Johns County and the PVAA take coaching certification very seriously.  Please DO NOT arrive to Joe's office without ALL your paperwork.  The following presentation shows everything that you need to be a certified manager, coach or dugout parent.

 

 

Managers and Coaches

Anybody wanting to be an officially rostered manager or coach must complete certification annually.  The certifications required are as follows:

Dugout Parents

A dugout parent is anybody wanting to help out on the field during practices or assist in the dugout during a game.  As with managers and coaches, this certification is done annually.  The certifications required are as follows:
This course is administered by the Ponte Vedra Athletic Association (PVAA), and must be taken annually by all managers, coaches and dugout parents.  There is a video by former Nease High School Football coach Craig Howard, Instructional Training, Life Lessons from the Playing Field and a Quiz.  Once you've completed the Quiz, a certificate of completion will be available for you to print.  You must present the certificate to Allan Wages at Davis Park.

 

All certifications administered by the PVAA require you to establish an account at the Online Coach Certification Center.  There is no fee to take the courses.  Once you've set up your account you'll be directed to begin the course.
 
Click here to go to the PVAA's Online Coach Certification Center which will give you directions on how to proceed.  Note that the initial (Global) username is "pvaa" and the password is "coach"...  Each time you navigate to this page, you'll use the Global username and password.  Once you've arrived at the Online Coach Certification Center you'll be prompted to either Sign Up or Login.

 

 
This form must be filled out the first time you manage, coach or volunteer as a dugout parent, then again every twelve (12) months.  The form is available on the PVAA's Online Coach Certification Center.  Print the form, then fill it out and present it to Allan Wages at Davis Park along with the rest of your coaching certificates.
 
This form can be accessed from the Coach Training page of the PVAA Web site.

This course is administered by the Babe Ruth League (BRL) Ripken Baseball Coaching Education and Certification Program and need only be taken once in a lifetime for anybody wanting to be a rostered manager or coach.  The softball version of the course is called Coaching Youth Softball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Softball Coaches.  The course consists of ten (10) units, a Summary, Test, and Evaluation.  The registration fee is $19.95.  When you've completed the course and test, please make three copies of your certificate of completion.  File one with Allan Wages at Davis Park, one with Marc Bugbey, commissioner of PVGS, and one for your own records.

Softball (PVAA)

This is the sport specific course administered by the PVAA.  Dugout parents must take this course each year to be certified.
 
Click here to go to the PVAA's Online Coach Certification Center, then navigate your way into your account and look for the Softball module.  Once you've completed the Quiz, a certificate of completion will be available for you to print.  You must present the certificate to Allan Wages at Davis Park.
